La Playa Hotel and Cottages

After its complete reimaging and renovation, Carmel Valley Ranch has been transformed into a sophisticated playground for all ages. Guests can enjoy creative programs such as honey harvesting and stargazing, find inspiration hiking the resort’s stunning terrain, take a turn on one of The Ranch’s signature wooden tree swings, or relax poolside around a fire. The renovation included a major upgrade of all 139 guest suites, the creation of a spa, the addition of two new resort pools with adjacent outdoor dining and fire pits, and the beautification of the 18-hole Pete Dye designed golf course. Guests can participate in cooking classes in the new Adventure Kitchen using ingredients grown in the resort’s two-acre organic garden. At the base of the resort, the River Ranch is the center of activity, featuring a kids’ playground and activity center, basketball court, pool, hot tub and splash zone area, bocce courts, fitness center and tennis courts.

The resort’s 139 spacious guest suites feature cathedral ceilings, open floor plans, fireplaces and comfortable furnishings. The majority of the suites average 800 square feet and include outside decks, separate living rooms, travertine fireplaces, complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen televisions with BluRay players, iPod hookups, and bath amenities made with fresh-pressed lavender harvested on property.

The resort is located in Carmel Valley, a vibrant community of artists, winemakers and organic farmers, just inland from the bustling community of Carmel-by-the-Sea.  While many guests arrive by car, Monterey Airport is a 15-minute drive, San Jose Airport is a 45-minute drive and San Francisco Airport is an hour and a half drive.
